High alpine – demanding Ötscher ascent as a circular route. Marked trail without fixed ropes. Only for experienced, sure-footed, and confident hikers without fear of heights.
Description
After a "quiet" start along forest roads and hiking trails, you reach the ridge of the Rauher Kamm after the approach. Secure and particularly dry weather conditions are required here. Especially dangerous with old snow in early summer! Climbing sections and exposed, steep sections alternate repeatedly – only from the exit does it get easier again, followed by about 20 minutes along the high plateau on a hiking trail to the summit.
Descent via the (family) hiking trail and via Hüttenkogel, shelter, and Riffelsattel back to the starting point.
Starting point of the tour
Weitental, valley station of the Ötscher double chairlift
Destination point of the tour
Ötscherschutzhaus – from here, you can travel back to the lower station in comfort on the chairlift.
